The brainchild of local businessman Adrian Hogarth and two friends, Paul Smith and Darren Culley, they set up their own charity SPIN, (Supporting People in Need).
"We aim to raise £45,000 by cycling from Calais to Montpelier" (1000km in 7 days), Adrian, who is a director of Cumbrian Properties, said "We have already been pledged £12,000 from local businesses including the use of a minibus by Richard Dixon of 'Just Vans'."
"It will be a radical change from our day to day jobs. Darren is finance manager for Stalkers Transport, and Paul has his own design and branding company - PS Creative Design. Our journey starts from Brunton Park during the last game of the season when Carlisle United play Bournemouth on May 3rd."
"We will get on our bikes in the centre circle at half time and embark on the adventure in our bid to raise cash for Eden Valley Children's Hospice.
It is fantastic that the club is supporting us. Fred Story and John Nixon have been great. We couldn't have asked for anything more."
The trio have been given the go-ahead by United for Rotary Club members and charity volunteers to make a collection on the charity's behalf.
